Growth Path Milestones
The 5 stages from setup to scaling, what unlocks at each, and how to skip ahead if you migrated in with existing history.
Why Milestones
Milestones give bakers a progression path without overwhelming them. New bakers see one clear next step. Experienced bakers see their growth trajectory.
The Five Stages
| Stage | Title | Criterion | Unlocks |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Setup Complete | Profile + 5 recipes + pricing | Basic dashboard, order management |
| 2 | First Order | Complete your first order | Pricing Coach |
| 3 | 10 Orders | 10 completed orders | Customer Insights (basic), order trends |
| 4 | 50 Orders | 50 completed orders | Demand forecasting, Weekly Growth Plan |
| 5 | Scaling | 100+ orders in one month | Full growth suite, business health score |
How Completion Works
Milestones are checked every time you open the Growth dashboard and every time the weekly-plan job runs. When you cross a threshold, a record is created marking that milestone complete.
Celebration Messages
When you've completed a milestone but haven't been congratulated yet, the next time you open the Growth dashboard a toast fires:
Congratulations on your first order!
Now check your Pricing Coach to make sure your margins are healthy. 10 orders unlocks customer insights.
The toast is single-shot — it won't replay on refresh. Turn off celebrations in settings if you're watching a demo or already saw the message.
Stage Override (For Migrated Bakeries)
If you imported existing history and you're already well past the early stages, set "Starting stage override" in settings:
- Auto (default) — start from stage 1, progress naturally
- Start at stage 2 — First Order is assumed done
- Start at stage 3 — skip to 10 Orders
- Start at stage 4 — skip to 50 Orders (weekly plan immediately available)
- Start at stage 5 — jump straight to Scaling
Milestones below the override are auto-marked complete; the progress indicator shows the correct current stage.
What "Unlocks" Means
Unlocked features are informational and celebratory — the actual tier / setting controls still apply. Reaching stage 5 doesn't upgrade your subscription. It just means those features are now part of your day-to-day.
Where Milestones Appear
- A card on /dashboard/growth showing all 5 stages with your current stage highlighted and a progress bar to the next milestone
- Celebration toasts when you cross a threshold
- Bake Buddy chat — ask "what's my growth progress?" or "where am I on the growth path?"
Disabling Milestones
Toggle "Track milestones" off in settings to hide the card and suppress celebrations. Your completions are still recorded in the background — turn back on any time to see your progress.

Each stage builds upon the last, unlocking increasingly sophisticated features to help manage and grow your bakery business.
How do I unlock new features in BakeOnyx?▾
New features in BakeOnyx are unlocked by completing specific milestones. For example, completing your first order unlocks the Pricing Coach. Reaching 50 orders unlocks Demand Forecasting and the Weekly Growth Plan. These unlocks are designed to introduce powerful tools progressively as your bakery gains experience and volume.
Can I skip early milestones if I'm migrating from another system?▾
Yes, BakeOnyx offers a 'Starting stage override' for migrated bakeries. You can manually set your starting point to stage 2, 3, 4, or 5 in the settings. Milestones below your chosen override will be automatically marked as complete, allowing you to immediately access relevant features.

Upon completing a milestone, BakeOnyx will typically display a celebratory toast message the next time you access the Growth dashboard. This message highlights the achievement and often suggests the next relevant feature to explore. These toasts are single-use to avoid repetition.
