Add Photos to Your Products

Customers buy with their eyes. Add photos to your products so that customers see what they order on your online shop and wholesale portal, and your team finds items faster on the POS.

Add photos

  1. Go to Products and open a product. You can also click the product row to open quick edit.
  2. Find the Photos card, below Basic Information.
  3. Click Add photo and choose one or more photos from your computer, phone or tablet.
  4. Wait until the photos finish uploading. The save button shows Uploading photos... until they are ready.
  5. Click Update Product (or Create Product for a new product).

The photos are saved only when you save the product. If you leave the page without saving, the product keeps its old photos.

Photo rules

  • Up to 6 photos for each product.
  • File types: JPEG, PNG, WebP or GIF.
  • Each photo must be smaller than 5 MB. Photos from most phones are smaller than this.
  • Square or landscape photos look best. Your online shop shows photos in a square or 4:3 frame.

The main photo

The first photo has the Main label. The main photo shows:

  • On the POS product buttons
  • On your online shop product list and in the cart
  • On the wholesale portal catalog

To make a different photo the main photo, click Main on that photo, then save the product. On the product page of your online shop, customers see all the photos, with the main photo first.

Remove a photo

Click the X on the photo, then save the product. BakeOnyx deletes the photo file when no other product uses it.

Copied products

When you Duplicate a product, the copy gets the same photos. If you remove a photo from one of them, the other product keeps it.

Common questions

Who can see the photos? Product photos are public, because customers see them on your online shop. Do not upload photos with private information, for example an order form with a customer's name or phone number.

The upload failed. Check that the photo is a JPEG, PNG, WebP or GIF file and is smaller than 5 MB. iPhone HEIC photos must be saved as JPEG first, or set your iPhone camera to "Most Compatible".

Do I need a special plan? No. Product photos work on every plan, including the free trial.
