Before You Close Your Account
Closing your BakeOnyx account is a significant decision. Before you proceed, make sure you've taken care of a few important things:
- Cancel your subscription — You must cancel any active subscription plan before closing your account. If you have a paid plan, you'll need to downgrade or cancel it first.
- Complete or cancel pending orders — Any orders that are still in progress must be finished or cancelled. You won't be able to close your account while orders are pending.
- Settle any outstanding balances — Make sure there are no unpaid invoices or outstanding charges on your account.
Warning: Only account owners can close a BakeOnyx account. If you're a manager or staff member, contact your account owner to request closure.
How to Close Your Account
- Log in to BakeOnyx with your owner account.
- Click the Settings icon in the main navigation menu.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the Settings page and look for the Account Closure section.
- Click the Close Account button.
- A confirmation dialog will appear. Read the warning carefully — this action cannot be undone immediately.
- Type your bakery name or email address in the confirmation field to verify you want to proceed.
- Click Confirm Closure.
Note: If you see a message saying you can't close your account yet, check that your subscription is cancelled, all orders are completed or cancelled, and there are no outstanding balances. You'll need to resolve these issues before proceeding.
What Happens After You Close Your Account
Once you confirm closure, here's what happens:
- Immediate effects: You'll be logged out of all sessions. You won't be able to log back in, and your team members will also lose access to BakeOnyx.
- Subscription cancellation: If you have an active subscription, it will be cancelled immediately. You won't be charged for any future billing periods.
- Grace period (30 days): Your account enters a 30-day grace period. During this time, all your bakery data — recipes, customer information, orders, inventory, and settings — is retained but inaccessible.
- Reactivation option: If you change your mind within the 30-day grace period, you can contact BakeOnyx support to reactivate your account and regain access to all your data.
- Permanent deletion (after 30 days): After the 30-day grace period ends, all your bakery data is permanently deleted from our servers. This includes recipes, customer records, order history, inventory data, and any other information stored in your account. This deletion is irreversible.
Confirmation Email
You'll receive an email at your registered email address confirming that your account has been closed. This email will include:
- The date your account was closed
- Information about the 30-day grace period
- Instructions for reactivating your account if you change your mind
- A summary of what data will be deleted
Tip: If you want to keep a record of your bakery data before closing your account, export any important information (like recipes or customer lists) before you start the closure process. BakeOnyx doesn't provide automated data exports, so plan ahead if you need to preserve this information.
